VBS - Thank You Note

VBS - Thank You Note

Last week's Vacation Bible School was a meaningful experience and successful new adventure for our church. Throughout the week, children and their parents participated in missions activities together, learning about Broadway's different mission partners. These activities allowed the families to serve God together and take part in the church's overall goals for missions.

The parents also took part in an adult Bible Study throughout the week led by Jeff Sanders. The time together was enriching, while also providing space for the parents to get to know one another better.

Most importantly, the children learned more about some of the great characters of the Bible, and God, who calls them to love and serve their family, friends, neighbors, and communities. We hope to raise compassionate children at Broadway who love Jesus and want to follow his example. This year's Vacation Bible School helped to move us in that direction!

Thank you to everyone who helped with VBS, either through donating supplies or your time. The children and families had a wonderful week serving God together, and none of it would have been possible without your help and prayers.

As we make our final preparations for Vacation Bible School, we need your help! Please help us update our resources for VBS by taking a card with an item listed from one of the bulletin boards located in the Atrium and Foyer. Return the item you selected to one of the boxes located throughout the church on Sunday, June 7 or Sunday, June 14. You may also return items to the church office throughout the week.

Family Missions Project

Family Missions Project

On Sunday night, families with children gathered to learn about and make cookies for our homebound members. The families made 15 boxes of cookies to deliver to each of our homebound members, and were assigned a homebound member to pray for on a regular basis. The night provided a wonderful time of fellowship for the children and parents, while also teaching them that doing missions doesn't have to be difficult, and it is fun to care for others!

Thanks to our Children's Committee for helping to make this event a success. Special thanks to Missy Barman and Heidi Hilliard for providing their delicious cookie dough recipes!

Creative Arts Camp

Creative Arts Camp

Yes!  We have found a date in the shortened summer calendar for our Creative Arts Camp:  Monday, July 27 -Thursday, July 30 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.  Because the response was so overwhelming last year, we have decided to limit our age of participation to school-age children:  rising 1st graders to completed 5th graders.  In addition, we will limit the number of those participating to 40 children.  There will be a large group time of choir and several small group/individual offerings, such as; voice, piano, drama, art, culinary arts, etc…  Please be on the lookout for registration details and other information and make plans to have your child/children participate. If you can serve as a volunteer during this camp, please contact Robert or Emily.

Parent to Parent Mentoring Kickoff Dinner

Parent to Parent Mentoring Kickoff Dinner

Monday, March 16
6 - 8 p.m.

While raising children is a beautiful calling, it is often one of the most daunting tasks presented to our young families. The stress of caring for young lives can cause parents to feel isolated and anxious. Sometimes, it would just be nice to hear someone who has been there before say, “It’s going to be ok.”

With so many generations of parents represented at Broadway, the church is the perfect place to facilitate and nurture such relationships between young families and families with grown children. On March 16, we will kick off the Parent to Parent Mentoring Program with a potluck dinner in Friendship Hall for informal conversation and relationship building. Our hope is that the families will be able to support one another through conversations, meals, and friendship.

Anyone interested in the Parent to Parent Mentoring Program is welcome to attend this dinner. The only cost is to contribute a dish to the meal. Children are also welcome to be a part of the dinner! Contact Emily Holladay at emily@broadwaybaptist.org for more information.
