Age to Age: An Intergenerational Exploration of Church Family and Faith

Join us for a special three-week Sunday School session led by Pastor Kevin Gardner-Sinclair, on his Doctor of Ministry project called “Age to Age: An Intergenerational Exploration of Church Family and Faith”. Meet in Friendship Hall today 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. Ages 6th grade - adults are welcome to attend.

A note from Kevin Gardner-Sinclair:

“In July, I’ll be leading a three-week session on my Doctor of Ministry project called ‘Age to Age: An Intergenerational Exploration of Church Family and Faith’. During this time, I want to share with you some of my findings that will ultimately find a home in my doctoral project. I hope you will be encouraged and inspired about the future of the Church, because, despite appearances, the Good News is still good and it is still an Easter world.

Thank you for supporting me in this academic journey, and thank you for being a great example of church family in a world crying out for connection and belonging. I am honored and grateful to be your pastor.”

To read more about Kevin’s doctoral project, check out our July 2019 Newsletter.

If you have any questions about this additional Sunday School option, please contact Susan Reed at susanr@broadwaybaptist.org.

Youth Ireland Trip

Youth Ireland Trip

Please be in prayer for the following youth who will be traveling to Ireland on July 24 – August 3:

Harrison Aberle, Nate Barman and Corey Naiser

As the youth travel to Ireland, they will experience many thin places — the places where the space between heaven and earth grows thin and we come close to God. Throughout each day, they will take time for prayer and reflection on where and how they have experienced God. The following is one of the prayers they will use:

As the light of the dawn awakens earth’s creatures

and stirs into song the birds of the morning

So may I be brought to life this day.

rising to see the light

to hear the wind

to smell the fragrance of what grows from the ground

to taste its fruit

and touch its textures

so may my inner senses be awakened to you

so may my inner senses be awakened to you, O God.

                                                          J. Philip Newell

The Broadway family is excited for these three youth to grow in their relationship with God in this unique way. Stay tuned to hear about their trip in the September issue of the Broadway Beacon.

All Saints Sunday

All Saints Sunday is a time to remember those who have died in the faith of Christ. On Sunday, November 6, we will observe All Saints Day by reading scripture, singing songs, lighting candles and thanking God for the saints who have gone before us. More specifically, we will read aloud the names of those church members who have died since the previous All Saints service. And, ever mindful that many of you also grieve losses in your families outside the membership here at Broadway, there will be a time for others to be remembered as well.
