Flower Ministry
Many thanks to all of you who have participated or are scheduled to participate in the Flower Ministry this year at Broadway. Flowers are a beautiful addition to our worship service and a thoughtful way to remember someone in the process. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity, there are five more Sundays available this year. They are: July 19, July 26, August 2, October 11, and October 18. If you would like to provide the Sanctuary flowers for one for these Sundays, please contact Carol Lundberg at 502.895.2459 or carol@broadwaybaptist.org.
Help Stock VBS!
As we make our final preparations for Vacation Bible School, we need your help! Return the item you selected to one of the boxes located throughout the church on Sunday, June 7 or Sunday, June 14. You may also return items to the church office throughout the week.

2015 Summer Jubilate Tour
We will begin on Saturday, June 6, at FBC Dalton, GA. However, we will return to Louisville on Monday, June 8, for a concert here at Broadway Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m.
In addition, we need to host about 100 people for the evening. Therefore, we really need Broadway to extend the ministry of hospitality to this choir. If you can serve as a host home, provide a place to sleep, and transportation, please call Robert, Dave Watkins, or the church office.

WOM Spring Luncheon - Recap
Youth Sunday
Please join us for Youth Sunday and Graduate Recognition May 24 during the 11 a.m. service. The Youth have been hard at work preparing to lead the congregation in worship. We will also have a time at the conclusion of our service to recognize this year's graduates, followed by a short reception in their honor.
Discernment Process
Our congregational discernment process is moving forward. Members of our discernment team, along with others who were trained to help, met in small groups with over 75 youth and adults in the church. They talked with them about times when Broadway has had special meaning for them, and they talked with them about God’s hopes and dreams for Broadway’s future. The thoughts were compiled and discussed by the discernment team, and now the team has put a second conversation time on the calendar after church on May 17th. On the 17th (as a part of the potluck luncheon) we will drill down a bit further by asking those present some more specific questions that grew out of the initial feedback from the small groups.
Once we have had this second conversation, the team will work on distilling and prioritizing the feedback into a report about where the congregation seems to feel God is leading us. On the basis of this, we will make specific plans and fix specific goals to help us move in that direction.
My thanks to the discernment team and to all those who are participating in the conversation!
What we can learn from Baltimore...
One thing we can do is to know and to be honest about our history. I’ve lived going on 17 years in Louisville, but since I didn’t go to high school here, even if I live to be 90 and die in Jefferson County, most likely I’ll still die as an outsider. But my outsider status gives me some perspective. . .

Chris' Column - Staff Covenant
Most people in the church don’t know that our ministerial team has some guiding statements we call our “Covenant.” These are promises we make to one another in order to work efficiently and with integrity. As my column this week, I thought I would share with you this document. We have a great team of ministers, and I’m proud to serve with them!

Life Line Screening
Broadway is pleased to offer a preventive health event by Life Line Screening on Friday, June 12 in Friendship Hall. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. These screenings are affordable, non-invasive and painless. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. In order to register for this event and to receive a $10 discount off any package priced above $129, please call 1-888-653-6441 or visit www.lifelinescreening.com/community-partners.
