The Outreach Committee is hosting a Community-Wide Block Party, which will feature live music, food, Steel City Pops, a small farmer’s market, and games and activities for children of all ages. Free admission and parking, but bring cash to support local vendors.
In many ways, we are now entering the most challenging period of the interim. By the time you read this article, the Ad Hoc Committee will have presented their recommendations to the Deacons who will have a month to think about and discuss the material before voting on their recommendation at the May Deacons’ meeting. This recommendation will come to the Church Business Meeting on May 23.
Please join us for the movie, Wonder, at our new time, 11 a.m. Enter through office door, take elevator to second floor, Room E-204. New this month will be lunch following the movie. Each Sunday from June 3-July 1, the Missions Committee will sponsor a series of Hands On Projects in the Family Life Center from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. These projects will be for all ages and skillsets, and will benefit our Missions partners in the community. You may have noticed the great work being done at Broadway thanks to our recent Capital Campaign. We also want to take the time to spruce up our space so we can be more welcoming and be good stewards of what we have. Beginning May 6, there will be suggestion boxes located around the church. If you see a small project that could be done to help make our space a little brighter, please fill out a card and leave it in the box.
The Youth are looking forward to leading Pentecost Sunday worship on May 20! Following worship, we will have a time of recognition of graduates. Resurrection Sunday, April 1
After traveling down the path of our Lenten theme, God of Wilderness and Water, we will gather to celebrate the resurrection of Christ as we are led by the Chancel Choir and instrumentalists in our Alleluias. Come to Broadway to celebrate Christ is Risen. Christ is Risen indeed!
The search process for our new senior pastor is gaining momentum. Notice of the open position has been provided to dozens of CBF affiliated organizations, seminaries, and contacts throughout the nation. We are receiving resumes on a daily basis, and the search committee is now meeting weekly to review potential candidates.

For the month of April, the Love in Action Bins will be used to collect items for Samaritan Patrol (ministry to people in Louisville who are homeless). Please bring items to the church and place them in the Love in Action Bins by the church office, in Friendship Hall, or in the Atrium by May 1. We will collect:
Hearty Canned Soups with pull top lids
Fruit cups
Sunscreen

In 1995, Thomas Cahill began a series he called The Hinges of History. Perhaps the two best known are How the Irish Saved Civilization and The Gifts of the Jews. In his introduction to the series, he wrote:
We normally think of history as one catastrophe after another… but history is also the narratives of grace, the recounting of those blessed and inexplicable moments when someone did something for someone else, saved a life, bestowed a gift, gave something beyond what was required by circumstance.

In January, the elementary children hosted friends from Buechel Park Baptist Church for a sleepover in the Family Life Center. The students played games together, worked on crafts, and had an evening devotion before bedtime and a movie. The children have already talked about how excited they are to do this again next year, and invite other churches!
