A Message from the Interim Pastor

In my reading this week, I came across an unusual endorsement for my oft repeated phrase that we are in charge of input and not outcome. The following quote comes from A Place At the Table, by William Elliott:

“Jesus got very inconsistent results. There were crowds that worshiped him and crowds who wanted to stone him. There was a mixed bag of results. But a saint is not necessarily someone who gets good results. The saint is someone who continues to bring a completely consistent effort to everything they do regardless of the results. And that to me is what is remarkable about Jesus life – he left the results up to results. He surrendered his results. The results were whatever they were. But his attempt was consistent.”

During this interim, the overarching challenge is for consistent effort.
