The Outreach Committee is hosting a Community-Wide Block Party, which will feature live music, food, Steel City Pops, a small farmer’s market, and games and activities for children of all ages. Free admission and parking, but bring cash to support local vendors.
In many ways, we are now entering the most challenging period of the interim. By the time you read this article, the Ad Hoc Committee will have presented their recommendations to the Deacons who will have a month to think about and discuss the material before voting on their recommendation at the May Deacons’ meeting. This recommendation will come to the Church Business Meeting on May 23.

Dear Partners in Ministry at Broadway,
The Stewardship Team is glad to report that our Personal Commitments to Ministry (pledges) increased this year by $28,000. But there is further good news: We received this year $30,000 in commitments from new members and people pledging for the first time. We are glad to see new people and new energy!
We recieved a total of 162 cards and we're thankful for the good news of this broad base of support.The last bit of good news is actually good/bad news. Based on analysis by our Church Administrator, Betsy Cherry, it appears that households which pledged and gave around $73,000 last year, and who by all indications are continuing to give at that level this year, did not get around to turning in a pledge card. But with the increase in Personal Commitments, along with this $73,000 amount not counted as part of the pledge total, it appears that our financial support for ministry this year should be strong.

Courtyard Concert Series

"Variety of Musical Styles" from Bach to the Beatles
The second concert in the 2015 Courtyard Series will be held May 19, 11:45 a.m., at Broadway Baptist Church. A lunch will be provided by Gracious Plenty Catering. Cost: $8 per person. Please RSVP in our office by Friday, May 15.
The Golf for Habitat fundraiser will be May 4th at Big Springs Country Club. All proceeds will go to the Habitat Baptist House. If you’re interested in playing in the tournament or for more information, please contact Sharon Davis at gdavis3@bellsouth.net.
On Sunday night, families with children gathered to learn about and make cookies for our homebound members. The families made 15 boxes of cookies to deliver to each of our homebound members, and were assigned a homebound member to pray for on a regular basis. The night provided a wonderful time of fellowship for the children and parents, while also teaching them that doing missions doesn't have to be difficult, and it is fun to care for others!
Thanks to our Children's Committee for helping to make this event a success. Special thanks to Missy Barman and Heidi Hilliard for providing their delicious cookie dough recipes!

Broadway Baptist Church
Dear Church Family,
Thank you for your prayers and well wishes during my recent illness. Especially, thank you for the vase full of beautiful flowers from last Sunday's service. I like to think of each lovely blossom as representing a special prayer of praise to God from His people. I shall be adding my prayers to yours, and feeling inpatient until I am able to be back in our church worshiping with you again.

Several members that contribute to Broadway through electronic means have expressed an interest in participating in the offering portion of our service in some tangible manner. Therefore, a card has been developed that may be placed in the offering plate signifying this alternative way of giving. These cards are available in the literature racks in the sanctuary foyer and atrium. A supply can also be mailed to your home, if you call the church office at 502.895.2459.
Led by Leslie Townsend, this small group is based on the many aspects of care needed for loved ones in the later stages of life. We will have time to talk about financial, legal, and health care for our families members as well as a time of support for one another. The group will meet in the Lower Level Meeting Room on Sunday nights from 7:00 - 8:30 on April 19, 26, and May 3. We were blessed by the many lay people who shared their artistic talents with us during our Lenten journey: Matt Thompson for his creative photographs on the front of each worship folder, Don Irvan and Ryan Goff for their wood working creations, and the decoration committee for their overall leadership. Certainly, their creativity awakened our senses along our Lenten journey. In addition, thank you to all the musicians who gave of their time and energy during the preparation process: Children’s Choir, Youth Choir, Chancel Choir, Men’s Quartet, String Quintet, Chancel Bells, Youth Bells, Soloists, Directors, and Accompanists. Truly, their musical offerings enhanced our worship experiences and we are grateful. Thanks be to God for the gift of sacred music and for the blessing of those in our midst who lead us to a more profound sense of worship. Alleluia!
