This summer, I had the pleasure of taking Broadway’s children to PASSPORTkids! camp in Maryville, Tenn. Wetraveled to camp with Buechel Park Baptist Church, one of our Louisville partner churches, and met new friends from First Baptist Middletown and Lexington Avenue Baptist of Danville, Ky. The children all had a great time together, and are now begging us for a joint lock-in this fall!
The theme for camp this summer was Do Love Walk, based on Micah 6:8’s plea to “Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God.” Throughout worship and Bible Study, the children learned how they can serve God and listen for God’s voice in their lives.
During Missions, the children learned about the people in Malawi who are living through a water crisis. On the second night of camp, they participated in a Night Market to learn more about life in Malawi. The children raised over $2,000 to help people in Malawi have access to clean water.
I was so proud of the children and the way they embraced the Passport theme of justice, kindness, and humility. All the Broadway children have grown so much in the last three years, and I cannot wait to see the ways that they show Broadway how to Do, Love, and Walk even better than we already do.
