A Message from the Interim Pastor

Could we Enter the New Year Debt Free?

In 2016, the church borrowed $60,000 on a line of credit to make up for a short-fall in the budget for that year. There were no funds included in the current year’s budget to pay down the debt, and nothing has been included in the budget for 2018 toward repayment. Our interest payment is $200 per month.

I can think of no better gift for a new pastor (or for ourselves!) than to begin the new year debt free. How can this be done? $60,000 is not really that large a sum. All it would take is a sufficient number of persons who are willing to give a gift above and beyond their regular contribution. With so many demands on our resources, this is a lot to ask, but clearing the books of this debt will put Broadway on a more solid financial footing and make all of us feel better about our financial situation. Should we receive more than $60,000 the difference will first be applied to any 2017 budget short-fall, and the remainder deposited to our Operations Endowment Trust Fund. Envelopes are available in the pew racks, or you can send a check to Broadway. Please mark the envelope or check memo line “loan payment.”

Thanking you in advance for what you will do!
