About the Academy

At BAA, our friendly volunteers are what make us different from other academies. These smiling faces are here to ensure safety, build relationships with our students, and serve as a point of communication between parents and faculty. Thank you volunteers!

Welcome to Broadway Arts Academy! Last fall, we began this new venture with an excellent staff of professional teachers.  We are excited to welcome back both our teachers and students and look forward to involving new students as we begin another year of learning and arts education at BAA!

Our private lessons offerings include, but are not limited to: brass, strings, woodwinds, piano, guitar, vocal music, and visual arts. In addition, we are offering group lessons for people of all ages in the following areas: preschool “Music and Me” class, ballroom dancing, and a variety of visual arts classes.

Our Academy offers high-quality arts programs for students of every age, taught by talented faculty who are actively engaged in arts careers. Our courses are tailored to meet your skill level – whether you are a beginning student or ready to take the next step in your artistic journey!

We believe in the power of the arts to enrich peoples’ lives. We hope you will choose to join us as we celebrate the arts within this safe learning environment. Although the Academy is based at Broadway, neither the students nor the faculty are expected to adhere to any of our religious beliefs.

Please join us this Fall as we begin our second year!

Broadway Baptist Church

Facility

All lessons and courses are conducted at the Broadway Baptist Church location on the west side of the church at 4000 Brownsboro Road. We have a Welcome Atrium for entering and exiting the Academy, a waiting room with free Wifi and restrooms for parents/guardians in our Family Life Center, spacious facilities for various disciplines, as well as a large parking lot.

The Academy is handicapped accessible, with a volunteer on site at all times to help our parents with signing in and out. All classrooms have doors with viewing windows so parents may observe the lessons at any time.

Our campus is smoke-free (including vaping) and we ask that no food or drink (other than water) and no pets be brought into our facility.

Health and Safety

The health and safety of our students, teachers and staff is a primary concern. We have a volunteer on site at all times and a rigorous sign-in and sign-out system in place to monitor all activity in the building. All outside doors automatically lock when they close. Emergency procedures are in place and training has been conducted for all teachers in the case of emergency events including fire, tornado and community threat lockdown. We have first aid kits and defibrillators on site. While the Academy does not require masks to be worn during classes, students may wear them for their level of comfort.

Arrival and Departure Procedures

All students are expected to report to lessons on-time and should arrive a few minutes early to complete sign-in procedures in the Welcome Atrium with our volunteer at the front desk. The Family Life Center, located directly to the right of the entrance, is open to all parents/guardians and early students and offers plenty of seating, restroom facilities, and free Wi-Fi. In the event of an emergency delay, students will be asked to wait in this area. Parents/guardians are always welcome to observe lessons, either in the practice room or through the classroom window.

We ask that students are picked up promptly at the end of their lesson time. If an emergency should occur that will delay pickup, please call your child’s instructor immediately so that accommodations can be made. No child under the age of 12 may be left without guardian supervision in the building.

Every student will need to be signed in before the lesson and signed out after the lesson with the volunteer at the Welcome Atrium desk. Only adults or siblings over the age of 16, who are listed on the student’s transportation form will be allowed to pick up a student. Please have ID ready to show our volunteer upon sign-out so we can ensure every student is safe.

Missed Lessons

Students may need to miss lessons for various reasons. Attendance will be tracked weekly by each teacher. The teacher will determine whether an absence is excused and when a make-up lesson will be scheduled. Only individual lessons will be considered for make up; Group class lessons will not be made up unless the teacher has to cancel.

Regular attendance is expected at all lessons to ensure concepts are taught without interruption. However, should a student be sick or otherwise need to miss a lesson, please notify your instructor 24 hours in advance. Lessons missed without proper notice are not required to be made up

If a student is late to a lesson, the teacher will not add time onto that set lesson time. He/She has a set schedule and cannot adjust to tardy/late students.  Each individual instructor will be expected to reschedule appropriate make-up lessons before the end of the semester. If a lesson cannot be made up, no refunds will be given.
