Join us for our second Faith + Mental Health session as together we explore the intersection between the mystery of religious faith, the science of mental health, and the dream of flourishing, abundant life with ourselves, others, and God.
Our next guest is the Rev. Dr. Jason Coker, Field Coordinator for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Mississippi. Jason previously served as the Associate then Senior Pastor of Wilton Baptist Church in Wilton, Connecticut. While at Wilton in 2009, Jason was preparing a Lenten series to respond to the acute pain felt by their community in the wake of the Great Recession. On the First Sunday of Lent, one of Jason’s then 19-year-old youth took his life, sending shockwaves of grief and sorrow through a community already reeling in uncertainty. Now, over a decade later, the Pandemic afforded Jason the opportunity to finally craft this beautiful book which is part personal reflection, communal memoir, and liturgical resource.
Three CBF congregations will be gathered for this opportunity to interview the author in addition to Broadway Baptist. One guest interviewer will be Rev. Courtney Stamey, Jason’s current Pastor with their church family at Northside Baptist in Clinton, Mississippi. Next, will be Jason’s former intern from Wilton Baptist, Rev. Timothy Peoples, who now serves as the Senior Pastor of Emerywood Baptist Church in High Point, North Carolina.
Join us for this meaningful conversation on grief, loss, love, and the resilience of a church family in the face of tragedy. Watch live on April 14 at 6:30 or later at broadwaybaptist.org/faithplus.
