Thank You Barbara Bridger!

The campus of Broadway is a little quieter now that Barbara Bridger, Broadway’s sexton for 15 years, retired on Friday, November 3! “Barbara first told me she was ready to retire in 2005,” Broadway Facilities Manager Don Irvan joked. “But it took her 12 years to actually leave us.”

Barbara first joined the staff in 2002, after her friend and fellow Broadway sexton James Williams told her about the position. “We had been working together at Papa Johns for almost three years then,” James said. “She’s just such a dedicated person, I knew she’d fit right in. The rest is history.”

Since then, she’s been as synonymous with Broadway as the church and members themselves. As a church sexton, she worked tirelessly to keep the campus of Broadway sparkling for staff, visitors, and the congregation.

“Barbara was always so dependable and flexible,” Don said. “Anything we asked of her she did cheerfully.”

James added that he will miss his coworker and sidekick of over 17 years, but knows she’s earned some much needed time with friends and family. “She never stopped for a second. She’s a worker bee for sure.”

Please join us in thanking Barbara for her tireless devotion to Broadway!
