On Sunday, August 16, we are celebrating Promotion Sunday for our youth and children. As always, children and youth will move into new classes based on their age or year in school. This morning will be especially important for them as they get to know their new teachers!

This year, we will also honor Promotion Sunday in some new ways. During worship, we will have a blessing of teachers and students. We hope this will be a meaningful time of prayer and encouragement, as we lift up those among us who will spend the next 10 months learning, teaching, and investing in the lives of the youngest members of our community.

I hope that you will make an extra effort to be present on August 16 to offer up prayers and words of affirmation. We have invited teachers and students from around the community to come and hope to see many new faces in our midst. Please be there to offer true Broadway hospitality!

We intentionally planned for this Sunday to take place the Sunday after school (JCPS) starts to allow more time for students and teachers alike to invite others to come. We also hope this will tie-in well with the kickoff of our Fall schedule, as well as the Ministry Fair on August 23. As you greet new people, please be sure to invite them back for Wednesday night and the Ministry Fair.
