Dr. Ron Higdon

interim PASTOR

Ron Higdon is a graduate of Georgetown College, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. From 1984-1993, he was Adjunct Professor of Ministry at Southern Seminary. For 20 years, he was pastor at Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. He also served First Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Va., First Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, N.C., and Pine Street Baptist Church in Richmond, Va.  

Ron was an Intentional Interim Ministry Specialist and a Certified Church Consultant, having received his training through the Center for Congregational Health in Winston-Salem, N.C. He has been intentional interim pastor at First Baptist Church, Corbin, Ky., First Baptist Church, Williamsburg, Ky., Highland Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, First Baptist Church, Athens, Ga., First Baptist Church, Morehead, Ky., and Buechel Park Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky.

This Spring, Energion Press released All I Need To Know I’m Still Learning at Eighty, and in the fall will publish The Question That Won’t Go Away: Why Doesn’t God Do Something?

Rev. Emily Holladay

ASSOCIATE PASTOR - Children And Families

Emily is a native of Louisville. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., and a Masters of Divinity from McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta, Ga. Emily came to Broadway after four years of work at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship national office in Decatur. Ga. Her favorite pastimes include reading, writing (check her out at, playing music, and cheering on the University of Louisville. One of her favorite things about Broadway is the spirit of love and dedication that permeates throughout the congregation, and wraps even the very youngest among us in the warmth of Christ.

Rev. Robert Aubrey Gammon

ASSOCIATE PASTOR - Worship And Music

Robert is a native of Florida where he received his undergraduate degree in Church Music at Stetson University.  After receiving his Master’s degree in Church Music at Southern Seminary, with an emphasis in Pastoral Care, he served three churches over the span of twenty six years in the Carolinas before coming to Broadway four years ago. Some of his personal interests include hiking, golf, sporting events, and, of course, music. He enjoys the challenge of continuing to build upon the strong tradition of sacred choral music Broadway has established over several decades, and invites you to become an active participant in the music ministry at Broadway.

Rev. Susan Reed

Spiritual Formation And Discipleship

Susan Reed is from Central Kentucky. She holds a BA in Communications from Georgetown College, a Masters of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, VA, and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Louisville. She has been working at Broadway Baptist Church since 2006, first as the Minister with Youth and College Students, and currently as Associate Pastor (Spiritual Formation and Discipleship). One of her favorite things about Broadway is the family atmosphere and hospitality. Her hope is that this sense of love shines through all that we do: from small groups to Bible study to missions and worship.

Dr. Leslie Smith Townsend


Leslie Smith Townsend has 30 years of counseling experience in social service agencies, hospitals, pastoral counseling centers and private practice. She specializes in working with families and individuals in crisis and life transition; persons coping with disability or chronic illness; grief and bereavement; divorce and remarriage; adolescence and young adult issues; abuse recovery; women’s issues; and spiritual direction.

Townsend received her Ph.D. in pastoral counseling in 1991 and did post-graduate work in marriage and family therapy. She is an ordained Baptist minister and holds a certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Shalem Institute in Washington, D.C. She is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.

She is an Anthem, Humana and CIGNA provider.

Betsy Cherry


Betsy is from Salisbury, NC. She has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Mars Hill University and a Master of Religious Education in Church Social Work from Southern Seminary. She came to Louisville over 30 years ago with the intention of getting that seminary degree and returning to NC. In the process, she met and married her husband, Russell. Together they have made Louisville their home and have raised their 2 children here. Their son, Chris, is now an ordained minister serving locally with his wife, Tory. Their daughter, Amanda, is a Global Mission Fellow with The United Methodist Church in Mexico City, Mexico. In her spare time, Betsy enjoys reading, games, and travel.

Carol Lundberg


Carol is a Louisville native with a BA degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of Kentucky.  She began a corporate career at Liberty National Bank that spanned many areas before bringing her to the Customer Service Department.  It was in Customer Service that she found her passion in work AND met a newly hired programmer, Ken Lundberg.  They have been married now 23 years.  For the last 10 years Carol has enjoyed applying her customer service background to her work in Broadway's church office.  She loves her new role as Congregational Care Coordinator!

Don Irvan


In October 1996, Don came to Broadway with a twenty two year background in Law Enforcement, three years as a paper maker, three years a machinist and six years as a mechanic. He has ventured into home remodeling, electrical and plumbing along with woodworking for many years. As a Law Enforcement Officer, Don had the privilege of becoming an instructor in the fields of fire arms training, school bus and ambulance driving and radio communications. At Broadway, Don, along with a dedicated sexton staff, James Willams who started with Broadway in Sept. 1996 and Barbara Bridger who started in July 2002, wants to continue to focus on keeping this facility a safe and secure church for its members, staff and visitors within its bounds.
