Adult Bible Study and Sunday Seminars
At Broadway we hold the major Bible study program of the church on Sunday mornings. Many of our classes are involved in mission projects, special activities, and social gatherings throughout the year. Classes vary in size and format. You are encouraged to visit several classes in order to choose the one that best meets your needs. Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45. All classes are listed below. Co-ed Classes
Ed Perry, Overlook Room
This class may study an entire book of the Bible with related commentaries or select a specific topic to study. While the class is led by one regular teacher, class members open their Bibles and study the text together, making the lessons less structured with regular input from the class. Ages 55+.
Friendship, Friendship Hall
Study materials include the Bible and Baptist Way Press curriculum. This is a larger class of people ages 50+. Strong biblical content and lively discussion. The class assists needy individuals and charities.
Genesis, Family Life Center, Meeting Room #2
The class studies the Bible and Baptist Way Press curriculum. One teacher leads the class in a wide-ranging discussion after reading a Bible passage. Ages 40+. Very jovial atmosphere.
George Carver, Friendship Hall
Study materials include the Bible and Baptist Way Press curriculum. Three team teachers present lectures and encourage wide-ranging discussion after reading a Bible passage. Ages 60+. This is a very dedicated and long-standing class.
Theophilus, Family Life Center, Meeting Room #1
Study materials include the Bible and Baptist Way Press curriculum. One teacher leads a discussion on a Bible passage with wide-ranging participation. Ages 40+.
New Horizons, Church Parlor
This newly formed class for ages 55+ studies the Bible with direction from Baptist Way Press curriculum. The class has one teacher who offers a strong biblical base and life application.
Twyman, Lower Level Meeting Room
The class studies books of the Bible using Baptist Way Press curriculum. One teacher leads the class with a close examination and discussion of the material. Ages are primarily 35+.
Discovery Class, Fireside Room
With a strong emphasis on Bible study, this class includes parents of young children and young married couples. The class has several social events throughout the year.
Burress Class, Room with a View
This class is an energetic group of young adults both married and single, including college students. The class studies biblically-based material and encourages lively discussion.
Men’s Classes
Joe Stopher Fellowship, Chapel
The teacher lectures on selected biblical passages, followed by significant class discussion in a close examination of the scripture. The class has one teacher assisted by guest teachers. The class responds to missions-related needs raised by the class. Ages 68+.
Page Kelley, Friendship Hall
Study materials are the Bible and Baptist Way Press curriculum. A team of six members takes turns leading the class in a discussion that closely examines biblical passages. The class conducts ministries at Baptist Hospital East and periodically serves lunch at Jefferson Street Chapel on Liberty. Ages 75+.
Women’s Classes
Lydia, Friendship Hall
Study materials include the Bible and Baptist Way Press curriculum. One teacher leads the class in a robust discussion with a focus on a close examination of a biblical text. Ages 65+. This class is known for its strong, caring outreach to members.
Women of Grace, “Upper East Side”
This is a women’s Bible study class which welcomes all ages. The teaching style is a combination of lecture and discussion with an emphasis on life application of biblical truths.
Ruth, Friendship Hall
The class study includes both the Bible and Baptist Way Press. One teacher conducts lectures followed by a wide-ranging discussion after reading the Bible passage. Ages 65+. Outstanding ministry to class members and visitors.
