Spring Missions Sale Thank You

Spring Missions Sale Thank You

We are celebrating another successful sale netting almost $5,700. Thank you to many generous Broadway donors and volunteers. FYI, the racquetball court will be closed for the month of April for cleaning. During April only, you may choose to donate your items to the Ridge family yard sale. They are raising money to adopt a two year old boy from China who has Beckwith-Wiede mann syndrome. You may reach Matt at 502.558.1998 or Mary Ann at dr.remodel@juno.com. Beginning in May, donations for next year's Spring Missions Sale may be placed in the racquetball court.

A sincere thank you to Broadway members for continuing to remember mother (Helen Graves). She treasures each message she receives from you.

Mother lived with us for eight months, then following another small stroke, we placed her in a nearby nursing home. She has adjusted well and is very happy here in Black Mountain. She will be 103 in May!

Thanks again for your love and support of her through the years.

Sincerely,
~ Cannan Hyde

Dear Broadway Baptist Congregation,

Emily and I would both like to thank all of you for your support over this past year. Through death, grief, cancer, and many unknowns, we have truly been humbled and blessed by Broadway, both through work and as a church family.

Thank you for all of your prayers, cards, food, and gifts, as it has helped us to keep moving forward and given us the means to support our own. I'm not sure how we would have made it without a loving church family.

Thank you,
~ Matthew and Emily Thompson

Dear Church Family,

Since July 2016, I have been on a journey that has tested my physical and spiritual well being. By the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the many prayers, cards, phone calls, flowers, and visits from this congregation, my journey has been blessed. Only the Lord knows how long my journey will continue.
I know that I do not walk alone. Our Lord is with us all. He has sent his army of Angels in the form of this congregation to help me walk this path. Thank you for walking this journey with me and reminding me of the power of love through Jesus Christ.

John Toma: Steady as He Goes

John Toma: Steady as He Goes

Like a sturdy dependable vessel on the High Seas, John Toma is like that ship that never waivers and is always there ready to carry that load.

John is painting hallways, stairwells, and anything else he can put a brush to, saving the Church a handsome amount of money. John says he will continue to paint until he has covered this vast ocean.

When you see John, thank him for his hard work and his dedication to keeping our ship afloat.

Successful Grounds Clean-Up Day!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Grounds
Clean-Up Day on October 29. We worked really hard and
the Broadway campus is much prettier as a result.

Take a moment to appreciate our new park-like setting on the east side and the cleared-out property line on the west and south. We removed underbrush and vines, allowing trees
(and grass) to grow and light to shine in.

More exciting Grounds Committee news is coming - but in the meantime, look for our two Gingko trees to turn bright yellow very soon.

Thank You, Bereavement Team

Thank You, Bereavement Team

Over the past four months, I think it is safe to assume that we have had more deaths within our church than during any four month period in our church’s history. We have said farewell to very fine people. One of the real privileges of being a church is having the opportunity to celebrate the life and mourn the death of a person, and to accompany their family during this time of grief.

I’ve always been proud of how seriously Broadway takes this responsibility.  And I want to thank all those who have helped us to fulfill that responsibility much more frequently than we would have liked during this season.  I especially want to thank the Bereavement Team, a group of volunteers who prepare a meal or a reception when we have a funeral at Broadway.  They organize and accomplish this with no staff oversight whatsoever, and they quietly and faithfully handle everything that comes up.  My thanks also to our sexton crew, our administrative staff, and to Robert Gammon, who see to it that all the behind the scenes tasks are done with care.
