Our Ministry Plan for 2012

A word of introduction
My family and I came to Broadway in 2002, and all along the way I have counted it a privilege to serve this compassionate, inquisitive, and funny group of people. (Not "funny" as in "odd," although I'll grant that a few of us sometimes can be that, too.) I'm biased when I say this is a great church; we're always biased when speaking of people and things we love.
Hope is a recurring theme in my sermons. I believe in a God of grace who is always more interested in where you are going than where you have been. My goal in preaching and teaching is to allow the truths of scripture to shed light on the realities and struggles of everyday living. One of my favorite comments along the way was someone who said, "I feel as though you are preaching to me, and not at me." I won't try to lay out my whole theology for you, but I hope you will listen to one of my sermons or read one of the prayers. These are available on the right-hand side of this page, along with occassional things I have written.

A bit more about me: Born in St. Louis, grew up in Goodlettsville, TN, a suburb of Nashville. Went to Rhodes College, the former version of Southern Seminary, and then did a PhD in New Testament Studies at Baylor University. My wife and I have two sons who are students in Louisville public schools. I have a lifelong love of basketball, God's favorite sport, and still play, although swimming has become my primary form of exercise. I also have a love of (but not fluency in!) Spanish, and have always enjoyed partnerships and friendships with Christians in Latin America.
If you have questions about anything on these pages, or about anything related to your life of faith, I want you to contact me directly by phone or text (502) 594-6113 or by email Chris@broadwaybaptist.org. I will be happy to talk with you.
